🎒 Before you pack your satchel and head for the door, there’s something worth remembering...

🗨️ Whispers from The Inn

Autumn has arrived at the Inn.

I noticed it first in the windows: The light has changed. It falls a little softer now, stretching itself across the library floor in long golden patches. Outside, the leaves are trading their greens for amber and red, and every so often one floats past the glass, turning and turning and turning on its way down.

But autumn has found its way inside, too: The kettle sings more often. Another log finds the fire. Blankets have begun appearing over the backs of chairs and across laps, and warm cups seem to follow everyone from room to room.

The Inn is very busy just now. There are gatherings being prepared and journeys already underway. Maps and scrolls have spread across so many tables that Sprigget keeps gathering them into tidy little stacks, only to discover new ones somewhere else.

Lady Amaran moves among it all with maps in one hand and a warm cup in the other. Sometimes she stops beside my window for a little while. Sometimes Elunara curls up nearby. Sometimes someone settles beneath a blanket with a scroll they still need to finish.

I like that.

There is much to do, and there are soft places to do it. There are adventures being prepared, and there is tea to drink while preparing them. There are paths waiting to be walked, and leaves worth watching as they fall along that same path. One does not seem to chase the other away.

So the Inn bustles. And the Inn settles. The fire crackles. The parchment rustles. Footsteps hurry down the corridor. The kettle sings. And another leaf lets go and twirls its way toward the earth. There is room here for all of it.

I think I shall stay by the window a little longer. There is a very good patch of afternoon sun here.

🧭 Hero’s Insight: Answering the Call

I think there is something rather exciting about a call to adventure.

It may arrive as an idea you can’t quite stop thinking about. An opportunity that makes something inside you stir. A path you keep looking toward, or simply the quiet sense that something in your life is ready to become different.

And when we recognize that call—especially when we know we want to answer it—it can be tempting to think that means we ought to start moving immediately: Pack the satchel. Find the map. Open the door. Off we go!

But answering the call and setting out on the adventure are not always the same moment.

I was recently revisiting one of the great tales preserved in our libraries—the tale of dear Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship of the Ring.

When Frodo learns the truth about the Ring, he knows there is a journey ahead of him. The danger is real. He has agreed to go. And yet, he doesn’t walk out the door that evening. There are things to prepare. Arrangements to make. Questions still unanswered. Life continues in the Shire for a while, even with the knowledge that eventually Frodo will have to leave it.

There is wisdom in that.

Sometimes we hear a call long before it is time to move. We may know what we choose, but the next step is preparation, gathering information, finishing what is already before us, or simply allowing the decision to settle. Sometimes the call doesn’t need anything from us yet except our attention.

That doesn’t make it any less real. Nor does choosing to answer mean surrendering our choice over everything that follows. We still get to notice what happens within us as we look toward the road ahead, what we need before we begin, and whether the path we first imagined still feels true when we reach the threshold.

Of course, not every adventure waits politely for us to choose it.

Sometimes life changes the road beneath our feet. A door closes that we would have kept open. A responsibility finds us before we feel ready to carry it. A chapter ends without our consent, and suddenly we are standing at the beginning of another we never intended to write.

There may be choices we no longer have, but that does not mean we have no choice at all.

We may not choose the threshold, but there is still agency in how we meet it—in what we carry forward, what we leave behind, where we seek support, and how gently we allow ourselves to find our footing.

Some calls invite us onto a new road. Others are the road changing beneath our feet. Either way, we do not have to abandon ourselves in order to meet what comes next.

Whatever kind of call has found us, we can look for the places where choice remains ours.

Whether. How. When.

Not every adventure gives us all three. But wherever choice remains, we can meet it as ourselves.

There may be something calling to you now—something enormous and life-changing, or something so quiet you have barely given it a name.

You do not have to know where it leads. You do not have to pack your satchel tonight. For now, you can sit beside the fire for a while and listen.

And if somewhere in the quiet you recognize a call that is truly yours, the first answer does not necessarily need to be a grand declaration or a step across the threshold.

It can simply be: I hear you. And when the time comes, I will choose how I answer.

🔮 Magical Resource of the Month

🗺️ Find Your Barings: Map of The Call

There seems to be an extra scrap of parchment tucked into this month’s letter…

The edges are worn and uneven. A narrow trail winds across the parchment, disappearing here and there beyond what can be seen. There is no destination marked. No promise of where the road eventually leads.

Only a few landmarks. And a whisper in your mind that says, "This map is yours; mark your waypoints".

🕯️ Rumors, Remembrings, & Retellings

🗞️ Dispatches from the Back Room...

We interrupt your regularly scheduled Snail Mail to bring you a troubling report that has reached us from the kitchen.

Despite the unmistakable arrival of autumn, the kitchen continues to insist that there is “quite enough cinnamon to see us through the season.”

The goblins have formally described this assessment as “deeply concerning.”

One source, speaking on condition of anonymity while holding an unusually large mug of cider, questioned whether current calculations had adequately accounted for cinnamon snail rolls, spiced cakes, baked apples, pumpkin bread, maplefire buns, or what they termed “emergency toast.”

Questions have also been raised regarding the Inn’s supply of nutmeg.

Sprigget assures us that inventory is being monitored.

The goblins assure us that Sprigget does not understand the gravity of the situation.

Lady Amaran has reportedly ordered another round of tea while the matter is investigated.

We will continue to follow this developing story.

~ From Lost to Legendary: Chapter 2 | October 20–22, 2026 | 11 AM–3 PM EDT | Free Virtual Gathering

The Inn doors are opening once again for From Lost to Legendary—three days of conversations, stories, wisdom, and a little bit of magic for the Lost Heroes ready to reconnect with who they are and the life they actually want to be living.

This year’s quest moves through three paths:

🧭 Day One — Alignment & Authenticity
Coming home to what is genuinely you beneath all the expectations, roles, and old maps you’ve gathered along the way.

🍄 Day Two — Playfulness & Wonder
Remembering that joy, curiosity, imagination, and play are not frivolous extras. They are part of being fully alive.

🪶 Day Three — Empowerment & Intention
Reclaiming your ability to choose how you meet your life, what you carry forward, and what you want to create from here.

I, Lady Amaran, will be your host and guide throughout our three days together, joined by a wonderful Fellowship of Legendary Guides bringing their own wisdom, stories, and perspectives to the quest.

If something in you just leaned a little closer to the fire, come join us!

✨ Closing Blessing

May you trust the roads that ask you to move,
and the ones that ask you to linger a little longer.

May there be warmth for the waiting, courage for the crossing, and enough wisdom to know that neither requires leaving yourself behind.

And wherever the path leads next, may you remember:

The call may find you.
But the answer is still yours.

With love from the Inn
